The formatting problem

A resume can look correct and still be read in a different order.

Two-column templates, sidebars, headers, text boxes, and icons can change the linear text order seen by a parser. Generic ATS scores rarely show the exact structural problem.

Resume Order Check focuses on one observable job: show the extracted order, flag risky formatting, and produce a simpler copy while preserving your facts.

Real parser behavior

The sidebar is read before the work history.

This synthetic resume keeps all its text, but its visual columns become a different linear sequence when extracted.

Extracted order
  1. 1Name
  2. 2Contact details
  3. 3Skills
  4. 4Education
  5. 5Summary
  6. 6Work experience

The work history appears after the entire sidebar. A recruiter may still see the PDF correctly, but downstream parsing can receive this different sequence.
